Peter W. Warner was born in Berne[1][2] circa 1846[1], son of John Warner and Catherine West.[3] He was the brother of George H. Warner, who also died as a result of disease caught while he was serving in the Civil War.

His mustering out papers as a result of his death gave his age as 18 when he enlisted on 6 Jan. 1844 at Troy and then Albany. He was a Pvt. when he died 16 Nov. 1844 at Andersonville, GA. of disease. He had been previously reported as missing at Petersburg on 14 June. He was single and his parents were John and Catherine West. He was born in Berne, Albany Co. and was 18 when he enlisted. He had gray eyes, sandy hair, a light complexion, and was 5 ft., 6 in. tall.
