Death

Daniel Jacob Lendrum died Feb. 11, 1957. Although in failing health for some time, after a serious operation five years ago, he was around as usual on Sunday. He was stricken Sunday afternoon and died early Monday morning.

DANIEL J. LENDRUM

The community was shocked Monday morning Feb. 11 (1957) to hear of the sudden death of Daniel J. Lendrum. Although in failing health for some time, after a serious operation five years ago, he was around as usual on Sunday. He was stricken Sunday afternoon and died early Monday morning.

Mr. Lendrum was a life-long resident of the Town of Berne and a man always interested in the welfare of the community. He gave much of his time in the interest of the Berne Fire District, serving as a commissioner many years, during which time the fire house was built. He contributed much in the building of the Maccabee hall and the improvement of Woodlawn Cemetery, of which he was a director and president many years.

He is survived by his wife, Ada Jones Lendrum; two daughters, Mrs. James Van Ness of Albany, and Marjorie Jean Lendrum; two sons, Frederick and Harold; three sisters; Mrs. Christina Miller, Mrs. Charles Beebe and Mrs. Margaret Scrafford; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Brunk Funeral Home Thursday. The officiating minister was Rev. R. B. Greene, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church, of which Mr. Lendrum was a member. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

LAINHART - LENDRUM; A quiet Wedding occurred at the home of Mr. William Lendrum, near Berne, on Wednesday afternoon, June 20th, when their daughter, Miss Susan D. J. Lendrum was united in marriage to Mr. Charles S. Lainhart of Altamont, the ceremony being perfromed by Rev. M. L. Tate, in the presence of only near relatives of the contracting parties. Both are highly esteemed young people and the have the best wishes of many friends for their future. They left for a short sojourn in and about New York.
