Hilda was born on May 28, 1892, in Medusa to Fletcher D. Tallman and Mary Ellen Tappan. She grew up in Rensselaerville, living with her parents and also her grandfather, Salem M. Tallman for a time.
On September 15 1909, Hilda married Herbert Louis Miller in Albany when she was 17 years old. Immediately following their marriage they lived in Albany with Hilda's mother Mary. After moving from there they bought their own house in nearby Colonie. Hilda and Herbert spent their remaining years there where they raised eight children; Isabella, Herbert, Margaret, Hilda, Gertrude, Audrey, Agnes and Alfred.
Hilda died on February 11, 1985, in Colonie at 92 years of age and is buried with her husband in Memory's Garden.
