ALBERT I. GIBBS
KNOX — Albert I. Gibbs, 89, of Gibbs Road, died Monday, Aug. 12, (1991) at the Alliance Home in Carlisle, Pa. He was born in Binghamton on Aug. 9, 1902, the son of Floyd and Minnie Gibbs, and lived for over 60 years in the Knox area. Gibbs was a dairy farmer, in the town of Knox and - was a member of the Dairyman's League and the Farm Bureau. He was a deacon in the Westerlo Baptist Church and was very active in church work all of his life.
Gibbs had a strong interest in missions all his life, according to his son, Rev. Floyd Gibbs of Knox. Three of his five children, including Floyd, went into mission work. His youngest son, Alan, died in the mission field in Benin, West Africa, in a 1974 train wreck: His only daughter, Alberta Dubisz, retired recently after more than 30 years as a missionary in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
Gibbs is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Hiltsley Gibb; by Floyd and Alberta and by 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Donald H. Gibbs, Alan C. Gibbs and Mary Gibbs. One great-grandchild is also deceased.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Westerlo Baptist Church. Calling hours will be 5-9 p.m. Friday at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St.,.Altamont, with interment in Knox cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions to the Westerlo Baptist Church or Camp Pinnacle.

On Saturday morning a memorial service was held at the Baptist church for Albert Gibbs, a faithful, long-time member who passed away Aug. 12 at the Alliance Nursing Home in Carlisle, Pa. after a long illness. Rev. Donald Lyon, pastor of the Westerlo Baptist Church officiated at the service and. was assisted by Rev. Thomas Hiltsley, a nephew of Mr. Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs operated a small dairy farm in Knox until failing health forced him to retire. Surviving him are his wife, Elizabeth (of over 60 years); a son, Rev. Floyd Gibbs of Knox who, with his wife Betty, spent many years as missionaries in the Philippines; a daughter, Alberta Dubisz, who was a medical missionary in Burkina- Faso, Africa, for over 30 years; several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and other relatives.
Sympathy is extended to them all in the home-going of their loved one. Mr. Gibbs will long be remembered by all who knew him as a man of deep conviction which was evident by his daily walk and talk.

50th Wedding Reception Planned For June 10th
Sunday afternoon, June 10th, from 3 to 6 o'clock, a reception will be held at the First Baptist church of Westerlo to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Albert I. Gibbs of R. D. 2, Altamont.
Albert Gibbs and Elizabeth Hiltsley were married Sept. 23, 1923, in Berne, at the home of the Rev. Banghart, interim pastor of the Lutheran church. Meredith Hiltsley was maid of honor for her sister, and Ralph Beebe of Altamont, more recently of Coxsackie, was best man.
Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs had five children, Donald died in 1949, and a daughter Mary died in infancy.
Their three living children are all missionaries. Floyd is in the Philippines with the Christian and Missionary Alliance church. Alan is in Dahomey, Africa, with Sudan Interior Mission, Alberta Gibbs Dubisz is presently at home with her husband Edwin and their 3 children. They will return to Africa on Wednesday, June 13th. They are also serving with Sudan Interior Mission.
A time of fellowship and of for newing friendships is anticipated by the relatives and friends of the Gibbs family
60th ANNIVERSARY
On Friday evening, Sept. 23 about 125 relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gibbs of Knox gathered in the ARK at the Baptist Church to surprise and honor them on their 60th anniversary. It proved to be a complete surprise to Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs as they came to what they thought was a birthday party. When they entered they were greeted with, "Happy Anniversary to you." It's needless to say they were greatly surprised. The tables were decorated with bright yellow tablecloths and two beautiful fall floral arrangements with matching yellow candles at each end. The lighted candles gave a warm, friendly atmosphere to the whole place.
The food was served buffet style on decorated tables on one side of the ARK. There was a great variety of both hot and cold food which was enjoyed by everyone. The beautiful tiered anniversary cake made up by Mrs. Earl (Jan) Moak was on a specially decorated table in the center of the ARK. It made a perfect background for the many pictures which were taken of the honored couple and their family. After eating there was a short program with Dwight Brainard, chairman of the Deacon Board in charge. Alice Risley gave a beautiful rendition of "How Great Thou Art" after which several gave words of tribute to the honored couple. Floyd, the Gibbs' eldest son made some very pertinent remarks and also gave thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs for the influence that a Christian Mom and Dad had made on his life.
Those attending of the Gibbs family were Rev. and Mrs. Floyd Gibbs who are presently living at the Gibbs' family farm home in Knox, after spending several terms as a missionary in the Philippines; Mrs. Gibbs' sister, Miss Ernestine Hiltsley of Knox; her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wendall Hiltsley of Clarksville besides three of their grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. The Gibbs have a daughter, Alberta, who is married to Edwin Dubisz who are now serving as missionaries in Africa. The Dubiszs have two boys and a girl.
The older son is helping his parents on the Mission Field. The Gibbs' youngest son, Alan met an untimely death in a train accident while serving on a Mission Field in Africa. His widow, Ruth and five children stayed in Africa where she has served the Lord in various capacities. This school year — '83-'84 she is living in Longview, Texas with her children as she has two sons who with their two Dubisz cousins are attending Letourneau College there.
Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs still live on the family farm. While he is semiretired, he still keeps busy doing things about the farm that need to be done. Their home is always a haven for all who come whether family or friends. They can always be assured not only of good home cooked food but the warmth and Christian love which characterizes me Gibbs' home. Our prayer is that the Lord will continue to bless this wonderful Christian couple who have been a source of blessing and inspiration to many people through the years.

Berne
On Sunday evening Albert Gibbs and Miss Hillsley (Hiltsley), both of Knox, were united in marriage at the home of the officiating clergyman, Rev. C. L. Banghart. The bride, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hillsely (Hiltsley) of Knox, is a very successful school teacher, and the groom, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gibbs of Knox, an earnest Christian worker in the Church. Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs will leave the later part of the month to attend the Bible School in Philadelphia where they will further prepare themselves for Christian workers.

Engagement Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gibbs of Knox announce the engagement of their daughter, Alberta, to Edwin J. Dubisz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dubisz, 3527 W. Palmer St., Chicago, Ill.
Miss Gibbs, a graduate of Berne-Knox Central school; Prairie Bible Institute, Alberta, Canada; Houghton College, Houghton and Frances Payne Bolton School og Nursing, Cleveland, Ohio, is a registered nurse serving with the Sudan Interior Mission in Dahomey, French West Africa.
The Rev. Mr. Dubisz is a graduate of Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicagoand is also serving as missionary with the Sudan Interior Mission in the Upper Volta Republic, French West Africa.
A fall wedding is planned.
