Jerome Dennis Ball

Birth

Jerome D. Ball was born on January 1, 1850 at the Ball family farm on Switzkill Road, Town of Berne, NY where he grew up. His parents were Robert Ball and Anna Barbara Dietz. He was one of sixteen children.

Education

He was educated. He attended the local schools in the Town of Berne, NY.

Occupation

He was a farmer on his father's farm. After the Civil War, like brothers Seneca and Henry, both of whom were also in the Civil War, Henry move to the mid-west near his older brother, Henry, who was living in Graften, North Dakota. He tried his hand at several occupations including photographer. He established a studio in Crookston, MN. Photos show Jerome and Henry often visited the family farm at Switzkill Valley with their wives.

Marriage & Children

Jerome D. Ball married Marjorie Emma Webster in 1881 at Crookston, Polk County, MN. He and Marjorie Emma Webster(Sep 1862-?) appeared on the census of 1900 at Main Street, Crookston City, Polk County, MN. He lived in 1905 at Argyle, MN. He and Marjorie Emma Webster appeared on the census of 1910 and 1920 at Crookston City, Polk County, MN. They had six children:

  • Robert Winfield Ball (Jan 1882-?). He was born at Graften, Walsh County, ND.
  • Loren Webster Ball (1884-1893). She was born at Graften, Walsh County, ND.
  • Lloyd Taylor Ball (1885-?). He was born at Graften, Walsh County, ND.
  • Cecil C. Ball (Apr 1893-?). She was born at Crookston,Polk County MN.
  • Opal Lillian Ball (APR 1896-?). She was born at Crookston, Polk County, MN.
  • Lois Marvel Ball (Jul 5, 1896-Jun 8, 1985). She was born at Crookston, Polk County, MN. She married Ira Haaven (1894-1971).



Death

Jerome D. Ball died in 1941. He was buried on November 3, 1841 at Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, Polk County, MN.
