Jacob was born in Knox on September 13, 1831, a son of David Engle and Catharine Swart.[1]

Jacob married at about 1855, Rachael E. Pitcher who was born in 1838, a daughter of Peter W. Pitcher and Eleanor Pier. They had one son, Sanford Engle, who was born in 1856.[1]

Death
Rachel died in 1919. She was buried at the Riverside Cemetery at Endicott, Broome County. Her marker contains an inscription with Jacob’s information. Their son, Sanford, who became a doctor is also buried at the Riverside Cemetery.
