The street which is now 443, coming the intersection of the Knox - Berne Road to the White Sulphur Springs House was once known as Jug Street.

Milton Hart Stories - "Ralph Barton, he used to have flyers like you get in the newspaper today. Every week he would give us kids a soda as payment for delivering the flyers to all the homes around the village. I delivered to Jug Street on my bicycle about as far as where White Sulphur Springs was. The other kids did the west end of town and down on the flats."
  • 1905 federal census for Berne shows Sanford Miller (1847-1913) living on Jug Street, in the hamlet of Berne.
