The Shufelt homestead and sawmill, probably dated to pre-1898. (The mill almost certainly burned down in 1897 or 98) The pen-stalk in foreground carried water from a dam, which was parallel with the house porch, above the bridge at left, to the flume. The equipment in front of the mill's rolling door is probably a wood lathe. At the foot of the driveway in a white hat, stands Isaac Shufelt, grandfather of Stanton Shufelt photo from People Made It Happen Here
