Snyder, George Henrich
Birth
George Snyder was born on February 22, 1765, a son of Ludwig Schneider and Sara Hagadorn. [1]
Marriage & Children
On February 18, 1783 at the Schoharie Lutheran Church, he married Anna Papst who was born at about 1766, a daughter of Johan Adam Papst and Eva Marie Hamm[1]. George and Anna had the following known children:
- Margaret Mary Snyder b. April 25, 1785 at Schoharie, married Moses Terpenning[1]
- Mary Ann Snyder b. June 17, 1788 at Beaver Dam, married Johnson Chase[1]
- Sarah Snyder b. January 16, 1791 at Knox, married Abner Van Benscoten[1]
- Nancy Snyder (1793-1845) married Christian Scrafford (1785-1857) lived in Lewis Co. NY
- George Snyder b. March 28, 1795[1] at Knox, moved to Michigan
- Adam Snyder b. January 12, 1798[1] at Knox, married Elizabeth Henderson
- Deborah Snyder married Harvey Townsend-named in George’s will
- Lewis Snyder moved to Michigan
- John P. Snyder
George’s second wife was named Deborah, she was born in 1761 and died on December 26, 1833. She was likely the mother of Deborah, Lewis, and John P. Snyder.
George married Docia at about 1834.
Death
Hannah died January 25, 1798 and was buried at the Old Williamson farm. Deborah died on December 26, 1833 and was buried beside Hannah. George died on December 1, 1843[1] at Knox. Docia survived him but nothing further is known about her.
