Sayre, Benjamin Franklin
Birth
Benjamin Franklin Sayre was born on November 15, 1810, in Rensselaerville to Silas Sayre and Sarah Conger.[1] His parents had come from downstate before his birth.[1] He had a large number of siblings.[1]
Occupation
Benjamin Franklin Sayre was a farmer in Preston Hollow, Rensselaerville. He farmed Lot 89 in Rensselaerville, which had about 110 acres. In 1889, fiber from his Cotswold and Merino sheep was exhibited at the Universal Exposition in Paris.[2] Benjamin's son Hercules farmed with him.
Marriage & Children
On October 8, 1838, Benjamin married Lucinda Wickes, who was from Norton Hill, Greene County.[1] They had a son Hercules Sayre, who was born on August 12, 1842, in Rensselaerville.[1]
Death
Benjamin Franklin Sayre died on February 21, 1893.[1] His wife Lucinda died about a year and a half later on October 5, 1894.[1]
Researcher Note: I do not know where Benjamin was buried but presumably in Rensselaerville as that is where his wife Lucinda and son Hercules are said to have been buried.
Their estate ultimately went to their grand daughter Estelle Sayre. She sold their farm in Rensselaerville to Elroy C. Mackey on September 9, 1915.[3]
