Birth

Hillis was born in Westerlo, New York, December 12, 1919, and moved to Jordan, NY in 1950.

Education

Mr. Quick graduated from Miami University of Ohio and he earned a Masters degree from the University of Michigan.

Marriage and Children

Hillis married Olive Merwin about 1949 and they had two sons, Gregg A. and Steven J. Quick; and a daughter, Sally J. Quick of Salem, Massachusetts.

Occupation

Hillis was Vice Principal of Jordan High School and later Principal of Jordan-Elbridge High School before retiring in 1977 after 26 years of service to the two school districts.

Military Service

Hillis was an Army Air Corps veteran having served as a pilot in Europe during WWII. Mr. Quick was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart.

Death

Hillis, of Peru Rd., Jordan, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, in Auburn Nursing Home.

Burial

Services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005, at the Bush Funeral Home, Jordan. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Hillis E. Quick, 85, of Peru Rd., Jordan, died Wednesday in Auburn Nursing Home. Born in Westerlo, NY, Mr. Quick moved to Jordan in 1950. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Olive Merwin; two sons, Gregg A. (Janice) Quick of Union Springs, and Steven J. Quick of Universal City, TX; a daughter, Sally J. Quick of Salem, MA; a brother, Jack Quick of Swansboro, NC; two sisters, Elsie Perkins of Catskill and Alida Spairana of Troy; three grandchildren, Thomas, Stephanie, and Stacy Quick. Services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at the Bush Funeral Home, Jordan. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 15 N. Main St., Jordan.
