Birth

Irving Lainhart was born on April 18,1872 at tha Lainhart farm on Lainhart Road north of Altamont[1] Irving was the son of Stephen H. Lainhart (1841 - 1923)[2] and Mary Magdalene Frederick (July 24, 1844 - July 18, 1909)[2]. His brother was:

  • Charles S. Lainhart (January 19, 1881 - July 24, 1973)[2]


Education

Irving Lainhart attended Dunnsville Distric School and the Albany Business college where he took the commercial business course.[1]

Occupation

During his business career he worked in the grocery stores of Abram Tygert, Pitts Bros. and Emmett Mynderse, in Altamont, then built his own department store, opening it in the spring of 1910. He was in business for 15 years on the site now occupied by the Albany Free Library. Mr. Lainhart then went with the John G. Myers Co. in Albany and served there for 26 years, retiring in 1950 at the age of 78.[1]

Marriage & Children

Irving Lainhart married Ada Louise Beeb on October 15, 1895 at the home of Ada's parents on Maple Avenue in Altamont. Their children were:

  • Melva Lainhart (Mrs. Albertus Sager) (January 21, 1928-January 30, 1975) of Albany[1]
  • Mildred Lainhart (Mrs. Jesse Ellis) of Delmar[1]
  • Louise Lainhart (Mrs. Harry Willsie) of Gaithersburg, Md.[1]
  • Mrs. John Beatman of Middletown, Conn.[1]
  • Hila Lainhart (Mrs. Myron Kaiser) of Altamont[1]
  • Melvin Beebe Lainhart[1](July 17, 1900 - January 24, 1963) of Altamont
  • Stephen Lainhart of Altamont[1]

Death

Irving Lainhart died October 1, 1964.
