Obituary

''''''Mrs. Stanton Sholtes Resident of Berne Dies On Friday, August 26th, Ida Gibbs Sholtes, widow of the late Stanton Sholtes of Berne, passed from earth at the home of her daughter, Mrs J H Wagner. For some five years, Mrs. Sholtes had been in failing health, and almost three years partly helpless as the result of an accident. The devoted attention and consideration of her children during these wearisome months have been unfailing: and this had been especially true of her daughter Mrs. Wagner. Seven children grew to maturity in the family home, and the loving faithfulness of a mother's ministration was abundantly rewarded in her time of need. Generous hearted and prompt to render neighborly offices, Mrs. Sholtes ever reached forth hands of sympathy and helpfulness. For more than fifty years a member of the Berne Reformed church. she was deeply loyal to all interests at home and abroad. For some years a teacher in the Sunday school, she was also identified with the Y.P.S.C.E. and the Ladies society. She was an active member of the Woman's Missionary Auxiliary, and was at one time the president. She was made a lifetime member of the Woman's Board of Foreign Missions, Reformed Church of America. The funeral service Monday morning was held in the church in Berne, the Rev. D. L.Kinney officiating. The church was filled with relatives and friends in loving tribute to a lifelong associate. Rejoicing in her release from weakness and suffering, there is also the glad hope of a reunion through faith in the Saviour she believed and trusted. Her seven children survive her, Clifford, Dudley, Howard, Friend, Jesse, Mrs. Effie Sholtes Wagner, and Mrs. Alta Shoultes Ball. There are also thirteen grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. "Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep from which none ever wakes to weep"'
