William was born June 28, 1925 in Albany, New York.

Marriage and Children

William married Jane Komjathy and had four sons and three daughters. His sons are Steven, Martin, Lawrence, and Timothy Herzog. His three daughters are Deborah, Kathy, and Kim Herzog.

Occupation

He was a stationary engineer for the state Office of General Services for several years, retiring in 1987.

Death

Mr. Herzog died 6 Jun 1998 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.

Obituary [East Berne]--William H. Herzog, 72, died Saturday at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Mr. Herzog was born June 28, 1925 in Albany, and was a lifelong resident of Knox and East Berne. He was a stationary engineer for the state Office of General Services for several years, retiring in 1987. He spent the past several winters in Florida. Mr. Herzog was a life member and past commander of Boyd Hilton Post 7062, VFW; and a member Helderberg Post 977, American Legion; and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Berne. "He loved his garden," said his wife, Jane Herzog, "both in Florida and up here. He grew mostly vegetables. He loved to share it with his neighbors and friends. Down south, he raised sunflowers, and he would leave them there for the birds. He loved to feed and watch the birds." Survivors include his wife, Jane Komjathy Herzog; four sons--Steven Herzog of Strongsville, Ohio, Martin Herzog of East Berne, Lawrence Herzog of Medusa, and Timothy Herzog of Delanson; three daughters--Deborah Morey of East Berne, Kathy Anderson of Guilderland, and Kim Herzog of Guilderland Center; two brothers, Richard Herzog of Nakomis, Florida, and Harold Herzog of Berne; three sisters--Betty Rapp and Elsie Fisher, both of Colonie, and Dorothy Pisarski of St. Charles, Missouri; and 10 grandchildren--Andrew and Sarah Herzog of Strongsville, William Morey of East Berne, Todd Andersen of Guilderland, Zachary and Aaron Herzog of East Berne, Kendra and Tiffanie Smith and Goeffrey Herzog of Delanson, and Brad Abelman of Medusa. A brother, Lloyd Herzog, is deceased. A memorial service will be held this evening (Thursday) at 7 p.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont. Friends may call at the funeral home between 5 and 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1905.
