LUCILLE BRIGGS

Lucille Briggs, who had been a patient at the University Heights Nursing Home for some time, died Friday, Dec. 26 at Albany Medical Center.

She was the only child of the late Beaman and Sarah Hannay. Her husband, Henry Briggs predeceased her. Lucille taught in local rural schools and the Glenmont Elementary School for many years.

After the passing of her family she lived alone until failing health made this impossible. She had been a member of the Westerlo Baptist Church for many years and served it in various capacities.

Her only surviving relatives are three cousins Vera (Mrs. George) Coffey, Millie Risley and Hester DeLucia.

She was always keenly interested in community affairs and took an active part as long as she was able. Her many friends will long remember her quiet, gentle manner and friendly ways.

A memorial service was held on Dec. 29 at the Baptist church under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville. Rev. James McMillan officiated.
