Birth

Roberta was born on August 19, 1914, in Durham, Greene Co., N.Y., the only daughter of Everett Cook and Florence Elnora Rivenburg.

Marriage & Children

On June 3, 1934, Roberta married Edgar Lewis Tallman, a son of Fletcher D. Tallman and Alice W. Freleigh. They lived in Rotterdam, Schenectady Co., NY where they had three children:

  • Joan Marie Tallman
  • Shirley Jeane Tallman
  • Robert Edgar Tallman

Following Edgar's death in 1953, She lived in Berne by herself and later moved in with her daughter, Shirley, and son-in-law James Stewart Slingerland in Westerlo where she lived the remainder of her life.

Death

Roberta died May 19, 1998, in St. Peter's Hospice in Albany, N.Y.. She was buried in Fisher Cemetery in Rotterdam.

Obituary

WESTERLO - Roberta M. Tallman, 83, of Route 410, Westerlo, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998 in St. Peter's Hospital. She was born August 19, 1914 in Durham, (Greene Co), daughter of the late Everett and Florence Rivenburg Cook, and lived in Westerlo area most of her life. Her husband, Edgar L. Tallman died in 1953. Survivors include a son, Robert Tallman of Guilderland; two daughters, Shirley Slingerland of Westerlo, and Joan Wilson of Roosevelt, Arizona; a brother Donald Cook of Rotterdam; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. A service will be at 1 pm Friday at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike, Guilderland. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery, Rotterdam. Calling hours will be Thursday 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Hospice, or the Westerlo Rescue Squad.
