Jacob married at about 1855, Rachael E. Pitcher who was born in 1838, a daughter of Peter W. Pitcher and Eleanor Pier. They had one son, Sanford Engle, who was born in 1856.

Death

Rachel died in 1919. She was buried at the Riverside Cemetery at Endicott, Broome County. Her marker contains an inscription with Jacob’s information. Their son, Sanford, who became a doctor is also buried at the Riverside Cemetery.
