John Michael Haluska was born Sept 29, 1914, in Newark, N. J. son of the late John and Mary Stempel Haluska. His brothers and sisters were:

- Frank Haluska of Loudonville

- Martha Garry of Knox
- Helen Crooks (6 MAR 1916 - 28 FEB 1994)
- Dorothy Robinson of Clarksyille (ABT 1927 - 31 MAR 2009)
- Emily Chase of East Berne
Education
John Haluska attend the one-room Hungerford School in East Berne, Berne-Knox Central High School, arid Cornell University.
Military
During World War II, he was an ensign in the Coast Guard.
Occupation
A teacher, he retired after 36 years with the Marlboro (Ulster Co ) School District.

MILTON — John Haluska, 82, died Dec 5 (1997) at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
Mr. Haluska was born Sept 29, 1914, in Newark, N J, son of the late John and Mary Stempel Haluska. In 1920, his father bought a dairy farm in East Berne, and moved his family there.
Mr Haluska attend the one-room Hungerford School in East Berne, Berne-Knox Central High School, arid Cornell University. During World War II, he was an ensign in the Coast Guard.
A teacher, he retired after 36 years with the Marlboro (Ulster Co ) School District.
He was a member of the NYS Retired Teachers Association and the Marlboro Yacht Club.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Byron Haluska, four sons — John B. Haluska of Chatham, James D. Haluska of Chesapeake, Va., Robert T. Haluska of Fort Wayne, Ind , and David W, Haluska of Needham, Mass., three brothers — Joseph and Frank Haluska, both Of Loudonville, and Charles Haluska of East Berne, three sisters — Martha Garry of Knox, Dorothy Robinson of Voorheeseville and Emily Chase of East Berne, seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Helen Crooks and Elsie Mebas, are deceased.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. James Church in Milton and entombment was in Cedar Hill Mausoleum in Newburgh.
