Birth
Clifton was born in Alcove, New York on November 12, 1925, son of the late Clifton and Dorothy (Winn) Richardson.[1]
Marriage and Children
Sonny married Anna Plass and they had Cheryl Ann and Clifton Richardson III.[1]
Occupation
Sonny was a 3rd generation well driller having been a partner with his brother, Milton in C. Richardson and Sons Well Drilling.[1]
Military Service
Sonny was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean Conflict.[1]
Death
Mr. Richardson passed away suddenly on January 7, 2005 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, New York.[1]
Burial
Interment was in the Spring in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery.[1]

GREENVILLE -- Clifton Sonny Richardson Jr., 75 years, of Greenville, N.Y., passed away suddenly on January 7, 2005 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. He was born in Alcove, N.Y. on November 12, 1925, son of the late Clifton and Dorothy (Winn) Richardson. Sonny was a 3rd generation well driller having been a partner with his brother, Milton in C. Richardson and Sons Well Drilling. He was retired but often helped out in different situations as needed. He loved the Lord, his family, country, working, being outdoors and sports. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany during the Korean Conflict. At age 72, he was the first elected Republican Town Councilman in over 70 years for the Town of Westerlo and was serving out his term. He was generous in performing good deeds (asking nothing in return) and sharing his wealth of experience and knowledge. He will be missed by all who knew him and called him friend. He was the devoted husband of Anna (Plass) Richardson; loving father of Cheryl Ann Marto and her husband Thomas, Clifton Richardson III and his wife Phyllis (Teator) Richardson; beloved grandfather of Jared, Rebekah, Chelsey and Carissa. Also surviving are two brothers, Milton Richardson and his wife Glenna, Gerald Richardson; a sister, Viola Kudlack; sister-in-law, Ruth Ott and her husband Dave; brother-in-law, William Plass and his wife Edith; several nieces and nephews. A sister, Marian Woehrmann predeceased him. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 13, 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, Westerlo, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville, N.Y. on Wednesday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Spring interment will be in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions, in his memory, be made to the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, PO Box 130, Westerlo, NY 12193.
