Birth
Peter was born at about 1839, the son of William Stevens (1810 – 1894) and Anna/Hannah Barckley (1812 – 1850). Hannah was the daughter of Peter Barckley (1785 – 1826) and Maria Warner (1787 – 1859). Apparently one or both of his parents were deceased before 1850. Both he and his sister, Mary, aged 9 years old at the time, were living in the household with Henry and Mary Barckley. His siblings were:[1]
- Clarence E. Stevens
- Elizabeth Stevens
- Lydia Stevens
- Mary Stevens
- Asa Stevens
