Funeral services were held Tuesday, from the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont, with Rev. James D. Keller officiating. Interment at Woodlawn cemetery.

Funeral services were held from the Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont on Tuesday, with Rev. James D. Keller officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn cemetery, Berne.

George Bassler died Wednesday (April 3, 1957) at his home between Berne and Knox. Although in failing health hs had been able to continue his usual duties until a few days before his death. Mr. Bassler was always and industrious farmer and a generous friend who enjoyed taking gifts from his garden and kitchen to friends. A sincere Christian, he was for many years an active member of the Berne Reformed church and served on the consistory. Later when the time of the service was changed he transferred to Berne Lutheran church and was in his usual place for worship the Sunday before his death. Mr. Bassler was the son of the late Cyrus Bassler and Jane Daring Bassler. His wife, the former Sabrina Kirkpatrick, died in 1954. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mjss Florence Kirkpatrick and Mrs. Margaret Bassler; two nephews, Howard Wright of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Clyde Bassler of Knox; six nieces, Miss Catherine Bassler and Mrs. Elwood Saddlemire, Knox; Mrs. Frank Wright, Berne; Mrs. Charles Abeel, Henrietta; Mrs. William Wallace, Albany, and Mrs. C. M. Phillips, Oakland, Calif.
