Birth

Tahpenes Armstrong was born in Knox on September 3, 1816, the daughter of John Armstrong Jr. (2/13/1784-3/14/1879) and Tahpenes Williams (10/3/1788-4/30/1859). Tahpenes Williams was the sister of Benjamin Williams

Marriage & Children

On December 14, 1853, Tahpenes married Alonzo Van Auken and they had the following children.

  • Jesse Armstrong (m. ____Tyndall, a minister in New York City)
  • Sarah Armstrong (1855 - May 24, 1934) (m. William B. D. Davidson, a lawyer of Dobbs Ferry)

MRS. SARAH VAN AUKEN DAVIDSON

The death of Mrs. Sarah Van Auken Davidson, aged 79, widow of the late William B. D. Davidson, of Dobbs Ferry and daughter of the late Squire and Mrs. Alonzo Van Auken of Voorheesville, occurred at Dobbs Ferry, Sunday. Funeral services were conducted at Dobbs Ferry, Tuesday morning and from there the remains were brought to Mount Pleasant cemetery, New Salem, for burial, where committal services were held. Rev. Wfilliam J. Clark, pastor of the Voorheesville Presbyterian church, officiated. Surviving are a daughter and son, Mrs. Florence Walker, of Dobbs Ferry and William Davidson, of Hollywood, Ca., and two grandchildren, who reside in Dobbs Ferry. Also several relatives in Voorheesville and vicinity and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Tyndall, of Florida. The immediate members of the family accompanied the remains to Voorheesville.
