Birth

Egbert S. Wright was born on August 18, 1827 to James J. Wright (B. May 16, 1804, M. Feb 23, 1826, D. Mar 14, 1872) and Esther Wright (B. Oct 13, 1809, D. July 28, 1885).[1] He was their eldest son and probably born in Berne.[1]

Occupation

He was a farmer. The 1870-71 Gazetteer and Business Directory of Albany and Schenectady Counties recorded that Egbert was farming 122 1/2 acres in Berne.[2]

Marriage & Children

Egbert first married Margaret Young (B. 1827, D. May 2, 1871) on November 3, 1853 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Berne.[1] She was the daughter of Samuel Young and Jennet Davidson.[1] They had two children:

A year and a half after his first wife's death, Egbert married Louisa M. Shultes (B. Oct 18, 1835, May 14, 1914) on February 14, 1872 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Berne. She was the daughter of Joseph I. Schultes and Mary Elizabeth Dietz.[1] They had one daughter May Louisa Wright who was born on May 9, 1873.[1][7]

Life

On April 1, 1854, Adam Reinhart and his wife Sophia Snyder deeded two parcels of lot 539 to Egbert S. Wright which is recorded in Albany County deed book 125 page 39.[8]

The 1866 Beers map confirms Egbert's farm was located in Grid 539 Lot 539.[1]

In the 1890s, Egbert was a trustee of the Altamont Fair.[9]

Death

Egbert's first wife Margaret died on May 2, 1871 and she was buried at Berne and Beaverdam Cemetery in Berne.[1]

Egbert died on April 9, 1899, at 72 years of age and was buried at the Berne and Beaverdam Cemetery in Berne.[1]

His second wife Louisa died on May 14, 1914 and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Berne.[1]
