Nathan Crary was born February 11, 1784[1][2] in Groton, New London, Connecticut, the son of Isaac Crary (July 17, 1751[3]-February 18, 1812[4]) and Mary Gallup (July 5, 1756-May 17, 1827)[3]. His brothers and sisters were:

He married Hannah Gallup (May 3, 1786 - July 23, 1873)[7] on July 22 1805 in Albany, New York, USA. She was the daughter of General John Gallup (July 17, 1758-December 8, 1825)[7] and Hannah Denison (October 16, 1759 - September 1, 1830)[7].

BARUCH WESTON JONES
With the record of Iowa's development along agricultural and horticultural lines, the name of Baruch Weston Jones is closely associated. In the later years of his life he made his home in Charles City, Iowa but had extensive farming interests near by. He was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, September 20, 1850, and was there reared to manhood, attending the public schools. His parents were Isaac Crary and Maretta (Carpenter) Jones. His paternal grandparents were Denison and Hannah (Crary) Jones, the former born at Knox, Albany county, New York, November 10, 1794, and the latter at Stonington, Connecticut, September 23, 1794. The latter is a direct descendant of Peter Crary, who married Christobel Gallup, December 80, 1677; at Groton, Connecticut, and died in 1708. Peter Crary, Jr., who was baptized at Plainfield, Connecticut, April 23, 1682, married Ann Culver. Their son, Nathan Crary, born October 7, 1717, married Dorothy Wheeler, while Ruth Searl became his second wife. He died March 2l, 1798. Isaac Crary, the fourth child of Nathan and Dorothy (Wheeler) Crary, was born July 17, 1751, and wedded Mary Gallup, a daughter of Captain Joseph and Sarah (Gardiner) Gallup, on the 12th of November, 1775. Captain Gallup was a soldier of the Revolutionary war. He and his wife were married May 15, 1749, and had eleven children, the fourth of whom was Mary Gallup, called Molly, who was born July 5, 1756, and died May 17, 1827. She became the wife of Isaac Crary, and it was their daughter Hannah who became the wife of Denison Jones, and the grandmother of B. W. Jones of this review.

Y., Isaac Crary, residing in the state of Ohio, Rhoda Sealy, whose place of residence is unknown and Lucy Whipple, residing in the state of Ohio, children of Joseph Crary, a deceased brother of said deceased, Isaac N. Crary, Clifton Park, N. Y., Joseph W. Crary, Knox, N. Y., Maria Shon???, Orville, N. Y.; and Margaret Denison, Stillwater, N. Y.; children of Daniel Crary, a deceased brother of said deceased, Ed Gallup, residing in the State of Michigan, Sarah Crippen, Mary Crippen, Matilda Cerbm??? And Jackson Gallup, residing in Sweden, Monroe county, N.Y., children of Sally Gallup a deceased sister of said deceased, and who are all the heirs at law and next of kin of said William Crary, late of the town of Knox, in the county of Albany, deceased, greeting.
Whereas, Edward P. Crary, of the town of Knox, in the county of Albany, have lately made application to one surrogate of the county of Albany, to have a certain instrument in writing relating to both real and personal estate, duly proved as the last will and instrument of said William Crary, deceased; you and each of you are hereby cited and required personally to be and appear before our said surrogate, at his office in the city of Albany, on the 7th day of April near, at then o’clock in the forenoon of that day, then and there to attend to the probate of said instrument as the last will and testament of said deceased.

General JOHN GALLUP (Joseph(5), Joseph(4), Benadain(3) John(2), John(1)), son of Joseph and Mary (Gardner) Gallup, born at Groton. Conn., July 17, 1758, married Hannah Denison of Stonington, Conn., January 3, 1782. There is a tradition in the family that he was an officer in the war of the Revolution, and that he often told of the battles in which he was engaged. Soon after the close of the war he removed with his cousins, Samuel Gallup and brothers, to Albany Co., N. Y. He settled in the town of Knox, and after the death of General Todd he was promoted to brigadier general. He died December 8, 1825; his wife died September 1, 1830.
