Birth
William Henry Ball was born on December 12, 1763 in Schoharie, the son of Hendrick Ball and Maria Elizabetha Dietz. [1]
Marriage & Children
He married on December 1, 1789 at the Schoharie Reformed Church, Maria Elisabeth Weidman who was born on or about August of 1772. She was a daughter of Jacob Weidman and Mary Margaret Zimmer. [1] They had the following children:

- Jacob W. Ball, born on or about March 2, 1794, died before 1804[1]
- Peter Ball, born February 1, 1798[1]
- John W. Ball, born March 20, 1801[1]

- Paul Ball, born September 14, 1806[1]
- Abraham Ball, born January 6, 1809[1]
- Maria Elisabeth Ball, born August 14, 1812[1]
Military Service
Enlisted in April of 1778 as a drummer in the company commanded by Captain Diets in a regiment commanded by Col. Vromann in the New York line for 13 months[2]
Death
William died on April 27, 1843. [1]

Transcribed affidavits from his Revolutionary War Pension application: New York S.28631 Certificate of service: New York, William Ball of Albany County, in the state of New York, who was a drummer in the company commanded by Captain Diets of the regt. Commanded by Col. Vromann in the New York line for 13 months.
Declaration: Albany county, New York, September 6, 1833, William Ball, resident of the town of Bern, aged 69 on the 12th day of December, last. He enlisted in 1778 into a company of Militia in Albany County, where he then lived. His family consists of himself, his wife and several children and his father and mother.
Letter: to Mr. William A. Saxton of Albany, New York dated Autust 27, 1831 William Ball was born December 12, 1763, place not stated. While a resident of Beaver Dam, Albany County, NEW York, he enlisted and served as a drummer with the New York troops as follows: from sometime early in April, 1778, until late in November, 1778, in Captains William Deitz’s and Matthias Shultis’ Companies in Colonel Peter Vrooman’s Regiment and aided in building Weidman’s Fort at Berne; from April, 1779, until November, 1779, in Captain Shultis’s company.
He was allowed pension on his application executed September 24, 1833, at which time he was living in Berne, Albany County, New York.
