Obituary

Cobleskill Hospital. LEO N. LeBUIS Services were held Monday for Leo N. LeBuis from Berne Reformed Church. Born in Albany Feb. 10, 1912, Leo LeBuis attended Albany High School. On August 20, 1935 he married Doris Filkins. The couple enjoyed their golden wedding party a short time before lie entered St. Peter's Hospital where he died Nov. 28. Leo was a life-long resident of this area and served several years as a business clerk at the Berne-Knox Central School. Later he worked at General Electric during the war years and then with Klersy Builders in Delmar. After his retirement he continued parttime work as a carpenter with his son-in-law.Pete Bassler. Active in the Berne Fire Co. for 41 years, he was awarded life membership in the company and was secretary of the fire district commissioners. He was also a member of the Berne Ambulance Squad, a member of the greater consistory of the First' Reformed Church of Berne where he sang in the choir. He was active in the Hilltown Senior Citizens. Survivors include his wife, Doris Filkins LeBuis; four daughters and three sons: Mrs. Fred (Janice> Bassler, Berne; Mrs Merrit (Diane) Chamberlain, Billings, Mont.; Robert LeBuis, Barneveld (Oneida Co.); Mrs. Dennis (Marlenei Boomhower, Westerlo; Donald LeBuis, Mokena, 111.; Charis Haskin, Saratoga Springs; and Dennis LeBuis, Berne; his brother, Wilfred LeBuis, Colpnie:, and, one sister, Irene McCaffrey, Latham. He is also survived by .twenty grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Rev. Robert Hoffman officiated at the Memorial Service. Leo's daughter Diane designed the program "A Celebration of the Fulfillment of Life for Our Friend Leo N, LeBuis," and the music was provided by his brother Wilfrid and his daughters Marlene and Charis. Tributes to their father were written by his son Robert and daughter Charis and read at the service. His granddaughter Debbie Bassler created many of the floral arrangements and pall-bearers were six grandsons: Jeff,, Joe, and, Jerry LeBuis, Dean and Ross Haskin, and Mark Boomhower. Arrangements were by Fredenr dall Funeral Home, Altamont, with burial in the South Berne Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Reformed Church of Berne or to the Berne Ambulance Fund.
