Mrs. Cerena Van Benscoten Dies At Schenectady Home
Mrs. Cerena Van Benscoten, 67, died suddenly after a long illness on Wednesday (September 1, 1937) at her home, 2426 Campbell avenue, Schenectady.
Mrs. Van Benscoten was the wife of the late Jesse Van Benscoten and daughter of the late Edmond and Loraine Vroman Stafford. She was born on March 29, 1870, in the town of Knox. She spent all but the last 24 years of her life there and is well known in this vicinity.
Private funeral services will be held at her home Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Friends may call at the house Friday night from 7 to 9 o'clock.
She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Jacob May of Altamont, Mrs. John Klotzbach of Albion, Mrs. Pearl Walters of New York, Miss Gladys Van Benscoten of Rochester, and Mrs. Walter Smith and Miss Frances Van Benscoten of Schenectady; four sisters, Mrs. John Chrysler of Township, Mrs. Sylvia Garrison, Mrs. Frank Brandow, Mrs. George Burns of Schenectady, and one brother, Jesse Stafford, of Schenectady, and eight grandchildren.
