Platt Smith was born in Rensselaerville at about 1827, a son of Isaac. His mother was deceased before 1850, and her name is unknown.

At about 1864 in Tioga County Pennsylvania, he married Jane C. ______ who was born in October of 1833 in Pennsylvania. They had no children.

His records there state that his residence subsequent to discharge from the army was Sabinville, PA. His record also states that he enlisted at Kingston, NY.[2] He was at Rensselaerville in the household with Isaac Smith in 1850. He was at Durham, Greene County in 1860.

Died at the National Home for Disabled Volunteers at Bath, Steuben Co., NY at age 76 on July 12, 1903. Nothing further is known about his wife or where Platt is buried.
