This is Belva Gardiner (left) and one of her fellow nurses (Gwen Bellam, I think) at the Ist General Hospital just outside of Paris. This is in 1945, just about the time the war in Europe ended. Photo ccourtesy of Don Slingerland


  • Another WW II photo. This is Belva Gardiner standing outside of the 1st General Hospital with her cousin Harry(Buddy) Gillespie (from California). Buddy was a paratrooper and had been part of the festivities in Bastogne During Christmas, 1944. He was also part of a rather contested crossing of the Rhine. This is after VE day and
