The Garden Gift Shop opened in the hamlet of Rensselaerville on Methodist Hill Rd in 1957. It was an outgrowth of he Henri Riter Associates Shop of Rochester, NY. Business volume was not large but due to the select type of merchandise, people traveled from far distances to purchase it. Mrs. Rite later became Executive Director of the Rensselaerville Historical Society and opened the Grist Mill Gift Shop, now closed, under the auspices of the society as a mean of fund raising.[1].
