- 1787 map shows irregular shaped lot with house of J. Bedstead. He was a blacksmith. John Volckman Bedstead came here from Germany in the 1760s. He was a Tory and served in the British army during the Revolutionary war. In 1795 most of the family went off to Canada.
- 1797 John Bedstead signed a lease for 209 acres. That would have been John L. Bedstead, son of John V.
- 1790 census in Rensselaerville in the part that is now Knox.
- 1975 30-40 cres of this lot owned by Stephen Burgess.
