The town of Wright in Schoharie County borders the western edge of the Albany Hilltowns. The two hamlets are:

  • Gallupville – A hamlet in the southwest part of the town by the intersection of NY-146 and NY-443. It is also the location of the first settlement in the town. The Gallupville Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gallupville Methodist Church, and Gallupville House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Shutter Corners – A hamlet northwest of Gallupville on Route 443.

Gallupville residents are often related to residents in the four Albany County, NY Hilltowns or Helderberg Hilltowns located in the northwest part of Albany County. The four Hilltowns are Berne, Knox, Rensselaerville, and Westerlo.

Oral History of the Town of Wright

Allan Burton compiled the above oral histories in 1963 while he was serving as the town historian, they include Gallupville, West Berne and Waldonville
