FREDERICKSBURG, Va. Robert A. Willsey, 93, died on November 10, 2008 at Hughes Home, Fredericksburg. He was the first of eight surviving children of Frank and Millie Willsey, who lived on a farm in East Berne, N.Y. Bob graduated from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y. with a B.S. degree in 1937. In 1941, he married Marian Wesley, a co-worker at General Electric Company, where Bob had a career lasting 40 years. He was a World War II era Navy veteran. Upon his retirement, Bob and Marian toured all over the U.S. and Canada with the Airstream club, and later moved to New Smyrna Beach, Fla. for 18 years. Bob became an avid gardener and beachcomber there. In 1999, the couple moved to Va. to be closer to their son and his family. They were married for 64 years until Marian's death in 2006. In addition to his son, Rick, Bob leaves his daughter-in-law, Betsy Willsey, who was by his side at his passing; and three grandchildren, David Willsey of Durham, N.C., Robert P. Willsey of Fredericksburg, and Lauren Willsey, daughter of Rick and Betsy, also of Fredericksburg. He also leaves six surviving siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was beloved by friends and family alike for his kind, caring nature, calm demeanor and wonderful sense of humor.
