Jacob White was born in Preston Hollow on February 27, 1847, a son of David White and Ann Mackey, and a brother to Silas White who died in the Civil War.

Nothing is known about his first marriage, but Jacob married secondly at about 1880, Rose E. _____ a widow who was born at about 1854 in Penssylvania. They had a son, Charles A. White who was born in Wisconsin at about 1884.
