Obituary

The Altamont Enterprise. Berne - Clifford H. Swart, 84 died Tuesday at Albany Medical Center. Mr. Swart was born Nov. 24, 1912, in Berne, son of Eugene and Hazel Shaw Swart, and lived all his life in the Berne Area. He was an equipment operator for the Albany County Highway Department in Berne for 20 years. Survivors include three sons - Millard, of Rensselaer, and William and Clifford G. Swart, both of Berne; two sisters, Leona Bassler of East Berne and Sylvia Wise of West Berne; a brother, Harold Swart of West Berne; six grandchildren - Kenneth Swart, William Swart Jr., Melody Yerki, Clifford Swart, Donna Swart and Novia LaGrave; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His wife, Leona Duell Swart, died Jan 20. A brother Henry Swart; and a sister, Mildred Becker, are also deceased. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main St., Altamont, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Berne. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
