In the 1850 Census for Berne, George was recorded as 4 years of age and he was living with his parents and siblings.[8] A decade later, he was living with Denison Crary and his wife Henrietta M. Crary in Knox, Albany County, NY and attending school.[9] It is from them that he obviously got the alias he used during the Civil War.

Death

George died in 1926 and was buried at the Berne and Beaverdam Cemetery in Berne, Albany Co, NY.[2] Also at this cemetery are both of his wives and several of his children.[2]
