Lewis Spawn was born on March 22, 1841 at Knox, a son ofa son of William Spawn Sr. (B. abt 1814, D. unk) and his wife Temperance Benjamin (B. abt 1814, D.unk).[1][2][3] William was one of eight children.[1][2]. His siblings were:
