Birth

John G. Snyder was born April 1, 1919, in Westerlo to Walter Leslie Snyder and Christina Messer. He grew up and lived his entire life there.

Education

He attended Greenville Central School in nearby Greene County.

Occupation

He was a foreman for Albany County Highway Department and retired from there.

Marriage & Children

John married Henrietta Bolen.

Death

John died May 23, 1990, at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY at 71 years of age. He was buried in Hannacroix Rural Cemetery.

John Snyder, 71; retired highway foreman
WESTERLO - A service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday for John G. Snyder, 71, who died Wednesday at Albany Medical Center Hospital after he was stricken at home. Born in the town of Westerlo, Mr. Snyder lived in the Westerlo area all his life. He was a retired foreman for the Albany County Highway Department, where he worked for 44 years. He was a member of the Westerlo Volunteer Fire Co., the Westerlo Democratic Club, the Westerlo Rod and Gun Club and the Helderberg Hilltoppers Club. Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Bolen Snyder; two sons, Kenneth Elsasser of Dormansville and Martin Elsasser of Columbia Md; four sisters, Viola Hallenbeck of Westerlo, Mary Tompkins of Dormansville, Anna Kuhar of Rensselaerville and Catherine Latham of Westerlo; four brothers, George Snyder, Frederick Snyder and Robert Snyder all of Westerlo, and Henry Snyder of Albany; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The service will be in the Cunningham Funeral Home, West Street, Greenville, Greene County. Burial will be in Hannacroix Rural Cemetery, Dormansville. Calling Hours will be 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
