Shultes, Abram, a landmark and well known citizen of Berne, was born in Berne  (now Knox) March, 1827.The parent tree of the Shultes family in America was Ma-  thias (Mottise) Shultes, who was born in Holland in 1726, his father being killed the  same year by religious persecutors, the mother fearful that her own life and the life of  her child might also be sacrificed, fled to America with her babe, when he was but  six months of age.
