Birth

William was born on February 4, 1841 in the Town of Fulton in Schoharie County, NY. The names of his parents have not been learned but it is believed that he had a brother named George who enlisted in the same regiment as he did but apparently survived the war.

Corporal William Shaver, of Company C, 177th Regiment, N. Y. S. Vols., was born in the town of Fulton, February 4, 1841, and enlisted October 14, 1862. He died in Louisiana of yellow fever April 7, 1863.
