Austin A. Serson was born September 4, 1933, the son of William J. Serson and Helen Jansen Serson of Woodside Ave., Colonie. His siblings were:

12 Men from Capital District Inducted, Sent to Fort Dix

Twelve Albany and vicinity men, including a medical school instructor, a youth who came to this country from Greece three years ago and two married men, were drafted into the Army yesterday and sent to Fort Dix, N. J., to begin training.

Times Union, The (Albany, NY) - Tuesday, December 6, 1994 Deceased Name: GENE W. SERSON, 54 COLONIE Gene W. Serson, 54, of Woodside Avenue died Sunday at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was born in Albany and lived most of his life on Woodside Avenue. Mr. Serson was a machinist for the past 28 years at Southco Inc. in Menands. He also worked part-time for the Picotte Cos. for the past 10 years.

Survivors include two sisters, Pearl Mae Miner of Schenectady and Gail Bushnell of Colonie, and a brother, Norman Serson of Valley Falls.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 1200 Central Ave. Burial will be in Knox Cemetery.

Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

VALLEY FALLS Norman Serson of Valley Falls, N.Y. died at his residence on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Colonie, he was the son of William and Helen Jansen Serson. Mr. Serson was a graduate of Colonie High School, Hudson Valley Community College and the State Machinist Apprenticeship Program. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1970. He retired from the Watervliet Arsenal in 1999 and Pepsi Bottling Works in 2009. Snowmo-biling and working around his home were his favorite activities. Norm is survived by Nancy, his wife of 32 years; his sons, Joseph (Christina) and Matthew; his daughter, Wendy (Tony) Lombar-di; granddaughters, Nicole and Caitlyn Shumway; his sisters, Gail (Richard) Bushnell, Pearl Mae Miner; and Audrey Stalker. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Austin, Oran, and Gene. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Transfiguration Parish (formerly Holy Trinity Church), 17 South Main Street in Schaghticoke by Rev. George P. Fleming, pastor. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the White - Sanvidge Funeral Home, 58 Leversee Road (RT-40 in Speigletown), Troy on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment with military honors will be held in St. John's Cemetery, Schaghticoke. His family would like to thank Dr. Resta and her compassionate staff for their kindness, care and support.
