Birth

Joel B. Secor was born Knox[1] or Berne[2], Albany County, NY on October 21, 1847 to Andrew J. Secor (B. Mar 21, 1812, D. Feb 27, 1899) and Julia Ann Bronk (B. June 20, 1814, D. >1880).[2][3][4] Joel was the youngest son of twelve children.[2][3][4]

Marriage & Children

Joel did not marry.[5]

Occupation

Before his enlistment in the 7th Heavy Artillery Regiment, Joel worked as a laborer.[1]

Life

Joel was born in a farming family. In the 1850 Census, the family was living in Berne and a decade later, in 1860, in Knox.

Death

Joel was killed in action on June 17, 1864 at Petersburg, VA.[1] His remains were buried at Lake Rural Cemetery in East Berne.[2] After his death, his mother Julia A. Secor filed for his pension benefits on April 29, 1881.[5]
