Samuel Niles was born in Coeymans, the son of one of the earliest settlers there, in 1806. [1]

Samuel married Ruth Tompkins, a daughter of another early settler of Coeymans. At about 1830, they removed to Rensselaerville . Their child:
- Luther Niles, was born at Rensselaerville on October 8, 1830[1]
Death
Samuel Niles died at Rensselaerville in 1891, his wife, Ruth, died there in 1893. [1]
