George was born on October 10, 1919, the son of Claude and Myrtle (Tousan) Saddlemire in Berne, N.Y.

Military

served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines. He retired from the the NYS National Guard as a colonel.

Albany, NY Times Union, March 26, 2009 George Saddlemire Saddlemire, George ALTAMONT, N.Y. George Saddlemire, 89, of Altamont, died at Albany Memorial Hospital on March 23, 2009. He was born on October 10, 1919, the son of Claude and Myrtle (Tousan) Saddlemire in Berne, N.Y. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Ina P. Saddlemire in 2003. He is survived by his son, Thomas P. and his daughter-in-law Constance H. of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; his grandson, Craig O. of Lewiston, Maine; his brothers, Ogden and John and his sisters, Edna Saddlemire, Nellie Agosta and Martha Vass. Mr. Saddlemire served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines. He retired from the the NYS National Guard as a colonel. Following World War II, he built his home on Lincoln Avenue in the Village and resided there for 55 years. He was well known in the community. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont from 3-6 p.m. Immediately following, there will be a catered reception nearby for all his family and friends to celebrate his life. A private graveside service will be conducted on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, Berne.
