Knox- Alec F. Saddlemire passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on February 18, 2014. He was only 56 and will be missed by all who knew him. He was the son of the late Austin and Frieda (Schultz) Saddlemire of Knox. Alec worked for New York State for 28 years, but he lived to help others: he was a long-time member of both the Knox Volunteer Fire Department and the Helderberg Ambulance Squad. Alec was also a former assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 79, and was still actively involved in scouting.

He is survived by his wife Eileen, son Christopher (Rea), daughter Jenn (Paolo); three grandchildren Dante, Ella and Jack; his brothers Austin (Laura), Andy (Georgene), Alan (Jeanette) and Alden (Kathe) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He is predeceased by his son Eric Weaver.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 4-7PM at Fredendall Funeral Home 199 Main Street, Altamont, NY. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:30AM.
