Birth
Peter Ostrander was born in 1740 at Kingston, Ulster Co., NY, a son of Jacob Ostrander and Jacomyntje Ostrander. [1]
Marriage & Children
At about 1773 Peter married Catherine Ehring[1]. They had the following known children:
- Peter Ostrander b. April 14, 1777[1]
- Christian Ostrander b. January 15, 1787, married Helen Van Aernam[1]
- Jemima Ostrander b. January 24, 1783[1], married Michael Shrader
- Jacob Ostrander b. June 19, 1773, married Catherine Kentner[1]
- Charles Ostrander b. 1774, married Elizabeth Schrader[1]
- William Ostrander b. about 1775[1], was not mentioned in Peter’s will
- Catherine Ostrander b. July 24, 1779[1], married ____ Eiring (Ehring?)
- Hendrick Ostrander b. April 15, 1781[1]
- Maria Ostrander b. About 1783[1], not mentioned in Peter’s will
- Samuel Ostrander b. July 2, 1785[1]
Death
Peter died between June 19, 1815 and August 19, 1815. Catherine survived him but her date of death is unknown. It is assumed that they were both buried in their private burial ground on their farm, now known as the Ostrander Burial Ground in Knox.
