He especially loved fishing the St. Lawrence river where he owned a camp named "The Willard" located in Thousand Island Park on Wellesley Island. He also loved to hunt and was a charter member of a hunting club known as "Chet's Camp" located on the North Woods Club Road outside Minerva in the Adirondack Mt.
