William Mahar was born in Westerlo on May 12, 1821 a son of Patrick Mahar and Phebe Ten Eyck. He was a brother to John Maher who also served in the Civil War.

Death

William died on August 10, 1874 at age 54 in the town of Westerlo. He was struck by lightning. [1]
