Death
John died on April 9, 1931 at San Diego, California.[5] His widow, Carrie, received her pension on May 14, 1931

The 1900 census indicated that John had been married two times, his second to Carrie who was married once for 9 years and had two children, neither of which survived to the 1900 census.
