Birth

Louis was born at about 1927 in Albany, NY, a son of Louis and Clara Luft.

Marriage and Children

Louis married first Doris Strobel. His second wife is Joan Lent. He had five daughters, Carol, Susan, Nancy, Stephanie, and Wendy Luft; two sons, William and Stephen Luft.

Occupation

Mr. Luft was retired as a Teamster for Bordens Dairy after 30 years with Local Union 587 and 609.

Military Service

Louis was an Army veteran of World War II where he fought in the Pacific Theatre Operation.

Death

Mr. Luft died Saturday, September 7, 2002, after a long illness.

Burial

Interment was in East Greenbush Cemetery on September 11, 2002.

WESTERLO -- Louis S. Luft, 75, of Myrtle Lane, died Saturday after a long illness. Born in Albany, he lived in the Capital District his whole life. He was retired as a Teamster for Bordens Dairy after 30 years with Local Union 587 and 609. He was an Army veteran of World War II where he fought in the Pacific Theatre Operation. He was widower of Doris Strobel Luft. Survivors include his wife, Joan Lent of Schenectady; five daughters, Carol Mazurek of No. Greenbush, Susan Hotaling of Schodack, Nancy Kennedy of So. Royalton, VT, Stephanie Grooten of Schodack and Wendy Menges of Nassau; two sons, William Luft of Westerlo and Stephen Luft of Rochester; two stepdaughters, Lynn Evans and Ruth Asadorian of Mechanicville. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Wednesday 10 a.m. from the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer. Interment will be in East Greenbush Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany or Schenectady Co., 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
